With over six months until the 25th Winter Olympics’ opening ceremony, a high-profile judicial case has shaken one of the two host cities. The Milan Prosecutor’s Office is looking into suspected corruption in public works tenders, including those for the future Olympic Village, which will host hundreds of athletes and officials during the event.

The investigation centers on a major real estate development project in the city center, as well as surrounding works such as Olympic venue clusters. Last week’s law enforcement operations saw police raid offices and private homes, issue six arrest warrants, and seize 120,000 euros in cash from a construction entrepreneur’s home, according to judicial sources. The entrepreneur’s identity remains undisclosed.

As the Games draw near, the probe has raised questions about preparations. Stakeholders are watching closely, hoping the investigation won’t derail plans, while the public awaits clarity on whether the alleged corruption could impact the event’s safety or timeline.
